According to this media report, the government of Odisha does not have a number o the number of child labour in the state. As per the last count, in 1997, the figure was 2,15,222 and according to the Census Report, 2001 the figure remains at 3,77,594.
The report highlights the massive presence of child labourer from roadside dhaba to the show rooms. It also informs about the abuse of the children in their places of work.
On behalf of PVCHR, I request you to invetigate the issue. The state must be directed to initiate action to declare the state capital free from child labour.
