Owing to the gross negligence of a doctor, two nurses and a compounder, a woman died after delivery in Dabhaura civic hospital of Rewa district on Wednesday.
Later, the Block Medical Officer (BMO), who visited the hospital, found it was sheer negligence of the hospital staff, following which the woman died.
Surprisingly, not a single pre-labour test was conducted by the hospital staff and the villagers have alleged that the staff are discriminating against the SC/ST patients of the region.
More surprisingly, the operation of the victim, Parvati Sen was done in the absence of the doctor posted in the health centre.
"She was operated upon at about 11 pm, but the nurses had referred her for Rewa at 2 am (after midnight) when she was almost dead due to excessive bleeding. The Janani Suraksha van was parked but the driver was missing. When we urged to compounder Ramesh Kumar Tiwari to help, he said that it was not included in his duties. Probably, this treatment towards us was because we belong to lower caste", said Dashrath, uncle of the victim.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) NK Pande also visited the civic hospital of Dhabhaura on Wednesday morning with the local police. Talking to The Pioneer, Pandey said, "There was negligence on the part of the nurses and the compounder and I have visited the hospital and took the details of the case."
He further said that he would submit a report to the CMHO and proper action will be taken after the investigation.
On the other hand, the villagers of Dhabhaura region have claimed that the staff of the hospital are discriminating against them on the basis of case. "We were rudely treated by the hospital staff and they often did not provide us medicines free of cost available in the hospital," a villager, who belongs to SC/ST community rued, pleading anonymity.
TI Dabhaura BS Parihar also accepted that the victim could have survived if the van driver would have turned up on time. "It's a matter related to Heath Department, but it is a fact that there was some negligence on the part of nurses and compounder," he added.
CMHO Dr BN Sharma said that he would look after the case and if there was any negligence, appropriate actions would be taken.
Meanwhile, the residents of the village and the relatives of the victim have alleged that police and Heath Department are trying to hush-up the case owing to the pressure of some affluent of the region.
Therefore it is kind request please take appropriate action at the earliest.
